5-amino-1MQ

Nicotinamide N-methyltransferase, NNMT, atalyzes the N-methylation of nicotinamide using the universal methyl donor S-adenosyl-L-methionine to form N1-methyl nicotinamide. The methyl group (starred in the featured image) makes it easier to lose a valuable source of NAD+ in the urine. While NNMT may be a good way of preventing excess buildup of niacin, aka vitamin B3, there may be other reasons why we do not want to limit our body's coffers of NAD+. This journey was inspired by JayCampbell.com [1]. Could 5-amino-1MQ be a good supplement for non-body builders? The implications may impact epigenetics and other methylation reactions.
